Dubai Taxi Number and Contact

The verified Dubai taxi numbers - the RTA toll free line, the international line, Dubai Taxi Company - plus how booking works now that it runs through apps, and a pre-booked private alternative.

Note: Gulf Chauffeur is a private chauffeur service. We are not affiliated with the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), Dubai Taxi Company (DTC), or any Dubai taxi operator. Contact information below is provided as a public reference - always verify on the official RTA website (rta.ae) before you rely on it.

Dubai Taxi Contact Numbers

Every licensed taxi in Dubai - whatever the roof colour - is regulated by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), and the RTA runs one central call centre for the whole system. That means the Dubai taxi number most people are searching for is the RTA line 800 90 90, which is toll free within the UAE and answers 24 hours a day. The largest single operator, Dubai Taxi Company (DTC), also publishes its own customer line.

Can You Book a Dubai Taxi by Phone?

Not any more. Dubai does not run a booking hotline the way Abu Dhabi does with its 600 line, and the RTA call centre stopped dispatching taxis when booking moved to the Hala e-hailing platform, a switch the RTA completed on 15 January 2020. Here is what each route does now:

  1. Call 800 90 90 inside the UAE, or +971 4 605 1414 from abroad, for enquiries, fare questions, complaints and lost property. The line does not send a taxi.
  2. Book the taxi itself in an app. In 2026 the RTA promotes Hala, Bolt, Zed and Yango for Dubai taxi bookings, with the same regulated fares in each.
  3. Give the app a precise pickup point - a building name, hotel, or clear landmark works better than a street address alone.
  4. If you have heavy luggage or more than four passengers, pick a larger vehicle type where the app offers one.
  5. Without a smartphone, ask a hotel doorman or hail a taxi on the street. Dubai taxis run on the meter, so the fare is whatever the meter reads plus any Salik tolls crossed.

An RTA booking fee applies to app-booked taxis on top of the metered fare, which is why street hails start cheaper. Our UAE taxi fare guide breaks down flag falls, per-kilometre rates and surcharges across the emirates.

Booking by App Instead

Dubai taxi bookings now happen in apps rather than on the phone. Hala, the e-hailing service run with Careem, dispatches RTA taxis through the Careem app with upfront pricing and live tracking - see our Hala taxi guide for how it works and current promo codes. The RTA's own S'hail app, Bolt, Zed, Yango and the DTC app also book licensed Dubai taxis. Apps show you the car, the driver and the estimated fare before pickup, and since the RTA retired phone dispatch they are the booking route; 800 90 90 remains the line for enquiries, complaints and lost property.

Customer Care and Complaints

The RTA call centre on 800 90 90 doubles as the Dubai taxi customer care number. Use it to query a fare, report driver conduct, or follow up on an existing case. Before you call, find your receipt - printed or SMS - because the taxi number, date and time on it are what the agent needs to trace the trip. Complaints get a reference number, and you can chase progress on the same line or by emailing [email protected]. For issues specific to a Dubai Taxi Company vehicle, the DTC line 800 88088 and [email protected] are the operator's own channels, though the RTA route works for every operator.

Left Something in a Dubai Taxi?

Lost property follows the same route: call the RTA on 800 90 90 as soon as you notice, with the trip time and taxi number from your receipt. We have a full step-by-step walkthrough - including what to do without a receipt and how app bookings make tracing easier - in our Dubai taxi lost and found guide.

How Dubai Differs From Other Emirates

Dubai is the only emirate where the regulator's general call centre is also the taxi number. Other emirates run dedicated taxi booking centres with their own hotlines: Abu Dhabi books through 600 535 353, and Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain and Al Ain each have separate franchise call centres. A Dubai taxi can drop you in another emirate but cannot pick up a return fare there, which is why intercity travellers often end up needing two different numbers - or one pre-booked car for the round trip. Our verified contacts for the neighbouring emirates are on the Abu Dhabi taxi number, Sharjah taxi number and Ajman taxi number pages.

The Pre-Booked Private Alternative

A taxi is the right tool for a short metered hop. For airport pickups, intercity transfers, or a driver for the day, a pre-booked chauffeur removes the parts people phone 800 90 90 to solve: no dispatch wait, no meter uncertainty, and a named driver who is accountable to you directly.

Gulf Chauffeur runs private chauffeur services across Dubai and the UAE in 2026 with fixed pricing agreed before travel. Your driver meets you at the address - or inside the airport with a name board - and intercity trips cost the same whether traffic is moving or not. Message us on WhatsApp with your pickup point, destination and date, and we confirm the price before you commit to anything.

Dubai Taxi FAQ

What is the Dubai taxi number?

The main Dubai taxi number is 800 90 90, the RTA call centre. It is the official line for taxi enquiries, complaints and lost property in Dubai, and it operates 24/7. Unlike Abu Dhabi or Sharjah, Dubai has no taxi booking hotline: the RTA moved booking and dispatch to the Hala e-hailing platform in January 2020, so taxis are now booked through apps. The RTA line covers all licensed Dubai taxis whichever roof colour they carry. Always verify current numbers on rta.ae before calling.

Is there a Dubai taxi toll free number?

Yes. 800 90 90 is toll free within the UAE - the RTA lists it as its toll free call centre number on rta.ae. The Dubai Taxi Company customer line 800 88088 is also an 800-prefix number, which is free to call inside the UAE. From outside the UAE the toll free numbers do not connect, so use the RTA international line +971 4 605 1414 instead, which is charged at normal international rates.

What is the RTA taxi Dubai number?

The RTA number for Dubai taxis is 800 90 90 inside the UAE, or +971 4 605 1414 from overseas. The RTA (Roads and Transport Authority) regulates every licensed taxi in Dubai, so this one number handles enquiries, fare questions, complaints and lost property for the whole fleet. It does not take taxi bookings, which moved to apps in 2020. You can also reach the RTA on WhatsApp at +971 58 800 9090 or by email at [email protected].

What is the Dubai taxi booking number?

There is no longer a phone number that books an ordinary Dubai taxi. The RTA moved taxi booking and dispatch from its call centre to the Hala e-hailing platform, completing the switch on 15 January 2020, and in 2026 it promotes booking Dubai taxis through Hala, Bolt, Zed or Yango at the same regulated fares. The RTA number 800 90 90 remains the line for enquiries, complaints and lost property. Dubai Taxi Company's own line, 800 88088, takes bookings for some of its services, such as taxis for people of determination. Without a smartphone, a hotel doorman or a street hail is the practical route.

What is the Dubai taxi customer care number?

For customer care and complaints about any Dubai taxi, call the RTA on 800 90 90 or email [email protected]. Give the taxi number, date, time and route, which appear on your printed or SMS receipt. The RTA acknowledges complaints and issues a reference number so you can follow up. For matters specific to Dubai Taxi Company vehicles (red roofs), you can also use the DTC customer line 800 88088 or email [email protected].

What is the UAE taxi number for other emirates?

Each emirate runs its own taxi service with its own number. Dubai uses the RTA line 800 90 90. Abu Dhabi taxis are booked on 600 535 353. Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain and Al Ain each have separate booking centres - see our emirate-by-emirate taxi number pages for the verified contacts. There is no single taxi number that covers the whole UAE.
